Synopsis

Acting on intelligence that some shady deeds are going down in the warehouse district, Spider-Man investigates a building that turns out to be a chop shop. Cloak and Dagger appear and fight the criminals. Spider-Man jumps in to help and quickly incapacitates the bad guys. He learns from the young, new heroes that teenagers are being experimented on in hopes of producing more super-powered people - like what happened to Cloak and Dagger. In a back room, the trio finds dead teenagers. Cloak and Dagger fade away to continue their search.

Across town, Cannonball, Wolfsbane, Sunspot, and Mirage are shopping. It's time to head back, but Sunspot brashly decides to stay out and play some video games. The crew sticks together and are caught up in a fight with some ruffians. They try to escape, but Sunspot is weakened and Wolfsbane is grazed in the head by a bullet; the two fall down an embankment and are taken by men in the shadows. With no clue where their friends went, Cannonball and Mirage flee.

In Times Square, Spider-Man continues his patrol. He finds a church where Cloak and Dagger have found refuge and, at that moment, Cannonball and Mirage burst in to hide. Cloak considers them hostile, but Mirage is able to hold him off with a fear. Spider-Man steps in and the group pieces together that they may all have the same issue to solve - preventing more teen experimentation. Spider-Man figures that the young mutants were targeted due to their already heightened abilities.

In a meat packing plant, Sunspot and Wolfsbane are tied up and injected with the experimental drug. The drug works instantly, as both Sunspot and Wolfsbane exhibit seriously augmented powers. Just then, Cannonball breaks through a wall and he and the rescuers take out the grunts while Wolfsbane turns on the men in charge. Wolfsbane then bites Dagger, whose light cures Wolfsbane, but now Dagger's powers are increase beyond her control. Similarly, Cloak absorbs Sunspot and spits him back out, but now Sunspot is cured and Cloak is tainted. With no other remedy, Cloak and Dagger use their powers on each other and are healed.

With the danger over, the New Mutants invite Cloak and Dagger to join them in Westchester, but they decide to continue their search for evil alone.

Note: A 'Mighty Marvel Bonus Feature' was included in the back of this issue. It was a minor gallery of villains who Spider-Man had fought in previous issues of Marvel Team-Up. These pin-ups featured Arcade, Equinox, The City Stealers, Infinitus, and D'Spayre.
